Smoking can affect your reproductive system even when you're not having a baby. The two most serious effects of smoking on the reproductive system are earlier menopause and an increased risk of two types of cancer of the reproductive organs: cerivical cancer and vulvar cancer.

What does the female reproductive system do?
The female reproductive system consists of the organs that allow a woman to produce eggs (ova), have sexual intercourse, nourish and house the fertilized ovum until its fully developed, and give birth. The female sexual organs are made up of the vulva, vagina, uterus (womb), cervix, fallopian tubes and ovaries.
The vagina is a tube that connects the uterus to the outside world. The place where the uterus and vagina meet is called the cervix. The uterus, or womb, is where a baby grows and develops inside the mother. On the sides of the uterus are the ovaries, each containing thousands of egg cells. When an egg is released from the ovaries during menstruation, it has to travel to the uterus. The fallopian tubes are the means by which the eggs travel from the ovary to the uterus.
Why is the female reproductive system important?
Reproduction itself is the process by which organisms produce more organisms like themselves. All living things reproduce; that is, without reproduction, families would die out and the human race (in addition to all other living matter) would cease to exist. Without the female reproductive system there would be no perpetuation of human life. While the female is dependent on the male for fertilization of her egg, the woman carries the offspring through pregnancy and childbirth.
